Rosamund Pike
Born in 1979
in London, England, actress Rosamund Mary Elizabeth Pike is the only child of a
classical violinist mother, Caroline (Friend), and an opera singer father,
Julian Pike. They worked hard for their families and she travelled extensively
throughout Europe in her early years. Pike went to Badminton School in Bristol,
England and then began her acting career at the National Youth Theatre. Pike
was only 23 when she was cast in "Romeo and Juliet" at the National
Youth Theatre. She was then recognized by an agent and was signed. While her
debut film was a high-budget action movie, her film involvement was mostly in
smaller independent films like Promised Land (2004) and The Libertine (2004).
She won the Best Supporting Actress Award at The British Independent Film
Awards for the film. Pride & Prejudice (2005) was her first film. A
brief excursion into Hollywood film followed with the action movie, Doom (2005)
as well as the suspenseful Fracture (2007) But she returned to smaller films
with outstanding performances in three films: An Education (2009) as well as
Made in Dagenham (2010) as well as the lead role opposite Paul Giamatti in
Barney's Version (2010).As she continued her acting career in England, Pike
appeared in the spy spoof Johnny English Reborn (2011), and inhabited the role
in the role of "Andromeda" in the sci-fi epic, Wrath of the Titans
(2012). Pike made a return to action movies as the lead actress alongside Tom
Cruise in Jack Reacher (2012).
