Bernadette Peters

  

Bernadette Petes was born February 28, 1948. She is an American actress. In her career of six decades Peters has appeared in television and film, and performed solo concerts. Highly well-known Broadway performer, she was nominated seven times for Tony Awards. She won two of them (plus an honorary) as well as nine nominations for the Drama Desk Awards. She also took home three. Grammy Awards have been awarded to four of her Broadway cast albums. Peters is widely regarded as the most accomplished interpreter of the works Stephen Sondheim. She was praised for this early work and for appearances on The Muppet Show, The Carol Burnett Show as well as in various other television shows as well as for her performances in films including Silent Movie, The Jerk, Pennies from Heaven and Annie. She came back to Broadway in the 1980s and was one of Broadway's most well-known actors. She has recorded six solo albums and numerous singles. She also performs frequently as a member of her own group. Peters continues to perform on stage in films, and also on TV in shows like Smash and Mozart in The Jungle. The actress was nominated for four Emmy Awards as well as three Golden Globe Awards. She won once.
