Pom Klementieff

Pom Klementieff (born 3 May 1986) is a French actress from France. She received her training at the Cours Florent drama school in Paris and has been featured in films such as Loup (2009), Sleepless Night (2011) and Hacker's Game (2015). She is the Mantis character in the Marvel Cinematic Universe film Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 (2017), Avengers: Infinity War (2018) and Avengers: Endgame (2019). Pom Klementieff was the child of two parents: a Korean mother, and a French-Russian father. Her father was a consul of Quebec City, Canada. Her grandfather was painter Eugene Klementieff. Because it is a resemblance to the Korean words for "spring" or "tiger" Her parents gave their daughter the name Pom. Klementieff was a resident of Canada before her family moved frequently due to her father's job. They lived in Japan as well as the Ivory Coast, before settling in France. Klementieff's father, who died in the age of five from cancer was her mother. She also suffered with schizophrenia and didn't have the time for her kids. Klementieff was raised with her paternal uncle and aunt. Her uncle, whom she called "like her father" passed away at the age of 18 years old. Klementieff's older brother who took his own life seven years later, was her aunt. Klementieff had the opportunity to study law following the passing of her uncle, however she did not find this profession appealing. In France she was employed as a waitresse and saleswoman. Her first acting experience began when she was 19years old at the Cours Florent theatre school in Paris. After finishing her studies and gaining an audition in theater that offered her two years of tuition free alongside some of the top instructors at the school. Klementieff was the stepdaughter of Catherine Deneuve in Apres lui (2006) the film that was her first acting job professionally. The filming took place over three days to capture her scenes. During one scene, Klementieff was to be pushed down a flight of stairs but fell down the stairs herself, as did director Gael Morel kept that shot in the film. Her first leading role was in Loup (2009) A French film about a tribe of reindeer herders located in the Siberian mountains. Klementieff filmed for hours at a camp far from the closest village. Temperatures dropped to minus zero during filming.
