(Vanraden), Patton, and Charles Patton. Her father is African-American . her
mother is caucasian, has German, English, and Dutch roots. Her family resided
across the street from the 20th Century Fox lot when she was growing old and
she was a big fan of movies in her early days. Her mother, also loved good
films taught in a school, and her father was a lawyer. Paula claims that as an
teen she would get away from the world by "pretending to appear to be
someone else" therefore it wasn't the case that she appeared in plays for
high school at Hamilton Magnet Arts High School. Her most beloved role was of
"Abigail" in "The Crucible". She continued her studies at
the University of Southern California, where she completed a program for
summers in film. At the time, she was awarded a 3-month assignment to make
documentaries for PBS. She was later hired as a production assistant on
documentaries for television and Howie Mandel's talk show. She then began to
produce documentaries for Medical Diaries (2000) airing on Discovery Health
Channel. Paula declares she loves the work she does, but her dream was still
the same. She took acting lessons before deciding to switch gears and become a
performer. She made headlines quickly and was in Hitch (2006), Idlewild (2006),
and Deja Vu (2006) as the female role in the film.
